The Council of Senior Centers and Services of New York City is a membership organization of more than 200 senior centers and agencies. The website contains a borough-by-borough list of agencies. The Council’s programs include advocacy, training, and other resources. Among the programs sponsored by the Council is the New York City Family Caregiver Coalition, which includes over 100 organizations and agencies working together on advocacy, education, information and public awareness. The Senior Navigator is a free information, referral, and assistance center designed to help seniors and their families with finding and accessing services, whether they are provided through the North Shore-LIJ Health System or outside agencies. Professional social workers and trained volunteers are available Mondays through Fridays, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. to personally answer questions. Callers can get assistance with such issues as caregiving, memory loss, home services, insurance, benefits, referrals, support, and guidance.
